[PROMPT] Learning Design II

Behaviorism is a theory of learning which states behaviors are learned through interaction with the environment through a process called conditioning. This approach to learning is based on the idea that learners respond to stimuli in their environment so that the learner responds to and gains the required knowledge or experience(Mcleod, 2020). In 1927, Ivan Pavlov conducted a famous experiment with dogs. He rang the bell every time when he fed the dog. Over time, the dog will drool as long as it hears the bell. Pavlov discovered what is now termed ‘classical conditioning’(Todes, 2000).
After discussing with my teammate, we believe that this approach is not consistent with our chosen topic. The goal of this learning theory is to predict and control behavior. For example, let learners copy or recite definitions, we think this approach can be boring to learners. For example, let learners copy or recite definitions. We think this method of learning is inflexible and can be boring to learners. We need to focus on the learner’s thoughts, not their behaviors. The topic we chose is affordable housing, this topic is to let learners understand which houses are affordable housing, and the benefits of affordable housing. We hope that learners can feel happy in the process of learning, so in the end, we gave up this learning approach.

I discussed with Yris about the learning approach used by their pod. They use the experimental learning approach, which pays more attention to the learner’s mental process and learning experience. The experiential learning approach encourages learners to participate, experience, use and solve tasks, and gain knowledge from tasks. The whole training is interesting and stimulates learners’ participation and curiosity. I think this is a very powerful learning approach.
